Why Trenchless Sewer Repairs?
Trenchless sewer repairs have been around for a long time, more than 20 years. However, in that time the technology has come a long way and the trenchless methods of pipe repair are now widely adopted for residential, commercial, industrial and even municipal applications because of it’s longevity and affordability.
Traditional sewer and drain repairs involved extensive excavation of your property, often the sidewalk and sometimes even the street in order to access all of the plumbing and connections they need to repair or replace. This costs a home or property owner many thousands of dollars, not only in the work being done but in also repairing the damage that has been done to the property as well as the sidewalk or street (which in most states is your responsibility!).
#1. Trenchless Has A Small Footprint
In most cases all we’ll need to do for a trenchless repair is dig two 4′ x 4′ holes one on either end of the affected run of pipe or drain. This can be accomplished without bringing heavy equipment onto your property and with minimal disruption to your yard and landscaping. In the case of a commercial or industrial building with problem pipes inside walls or ceilings then CIPP or pipe lining methods will not require us to tear into walls or otherwise gut the building. We can often access the lines from the roof or another access point.
#2. Trenchless Takes Less Time
Most trenchless repair projects are measured in hours or days, not weeks as some traditional repairs may take. The less time you have a plumbers and other technicians working on your problem the less it’s going to cost you.
#3. Trenchless Costs Less Money
As mentioned in the prior paragraph trenchless pipe and drain repairs take less manpower and less heavy equipment. They do however require very specialized (and expensive) equipment to complete and very few plumbers have access to it. So while trenchless repairs are indeed less expensive than a traditional excavation they will still cost a few thousand dollars. They will often come in 25-70% less than the cost of traditional methods.
#4. Trenchless Repairs Are Permanent
After a thorough inspection of your plumbing and drain lines we can determine the best method of trenchless repair. In most cases a trenchless repair is a permanent repair and under ideal conditions could last several decades. It’s important that the problem is identified correctly, the pipe prepared correctly and the correct method of repair chosen to maintain the longevity of the repair.
